Does the need for connection drive you to succeed?

Connection. The drive to share experiences with those dear to you. To be appreciated by them, and protect them.

How much does it drive you?

Knowing how much it motivates you, will make you achieve more, while at the same time preventing burnout.

If it’s one of your primary drivers, your deeper understanding of Connection will begin steering you towards work that you’ll Naturally succeed at. Where you won’t need to use willpower and discipline to outperform others.

It'll also reveal places at your current job, that can use your desire for Significance to fuel you, right now.

Even if find you’re not driven by Connection, confirming that will let you skip years of grinding on work that would be twice as hard for you, and even once you reached the top would just leave you feeling empty.

To discover much you are driven by Connection, let’s sit with what that desire feels like. Your values are on an emotional level. So we’ll spend a few minutes with that feeling, by looking at two movie hero’s that lived a path driven by connection, and followed it to victory.

DOMINIC TORETTO - Fast & Furious

Dominic Toretto In Fast & the Furious was fiercely driven by Connection.

  • Being driven is a something this man knows a thing or two about. But the one thing he loved more than cars was his family
  • Everything he did was motivated by his love of family and friends.
  • He always protected them, and brought them together.
  • FF6 - When Letty was found to be still alive and stuck in a life of crime, Dom gave up life his paradise retirement to fight to help her and reunite with her
  • FF8 - Another time When Elena and his son were threatened, He agreed to return to crime and work from an enemy he hated in exchange for their safety.
  • Hell he turned half the people trying to kill him into family too. Ya know, connection is only a medium value for me, but talking about Mr. Toretto even I get all pumped about it.

In movies, the most dramatic form of connection is usually fighting, to protect family

But There’s a lot of different types of connection

  • Being loved
  • Knowing them deeply
  • Protecting them in day to day ways
  • Simply being together

Connection doesn’t have to be with people ether

  • Animal. Nature. Ideas.

  • Love of Walkman was his love of connection to his mother
  • Risks life for it after escaping
  • He Risks his life and gives himself up to capture by to save Gamorra
  • His irresistible passion for connection drew everyone around him closer, eventually forming a crew, and a family from the people who started as his enemies.
  • In the end, it was them uniting together that allowed them to hold the infinity stone and defeat the near godlike Ronan
  • How were these regular schmoes in a super hero movie in marvel with people like Thor & Thanos? It was their exceptional connection
